ALISON KENYON - Painting The Divine Feminine

These images are from my current series, "The Modern Goddess",  which focuses on capturing the strength and enigmatic radiance of the women around us.  Some of the women are straight from my imagination, some are inspired by faces I've seen in photos that inspired me, and some are my talented and powerfully radiant friends.  I've had a few of these images come to me as a clear vision during meditation.  They all feel divinely inspired.

I love painting faces- especially cool hair; including gold paint and gold leaf in my work, and incorporating fabrics.
Many commissioned works for home interiors have incorporated fabric from elsewhere in the space such as upholstery or drapes.
I stretch these fabrics onto a high quality canvas frame, prime the fabric, and begin the painting.  It's a subtle way to anchor the artwork and make it truly belong to the space.
